Bicycle race

Off to La Roche in a couple of hours for the Velomediane or Claude Criquielion Classic tomorrow. 172 km, 24 climbs, a 3300 m height difference to overcome... I have no idea whether I'll even be able to finish this ride. After all, it's the first time I ride a combination of this distance AND stage profile. We'll see. Can't blame it on a lack of preparation at great altitude,though... :-) :

NOTE: This is one of the pictures I should be updating my Flickr account with any time soon. Have been neglecting it for some time now. Perhaps I should cut down on the cycling a bit?

NOTE2: I know: Queen is not the kind of band you want to admit liking in certain circles. But I have always had a soft spot for Freddy and his gang. And having seen his statue in Montreux this summer, my kids are also taking an interest in the band.

They especially seem to like Bicycle Race. I wonder if that's a coincidence...

I wonder what will happen next? After all, my LinkedIn Network is now 100% complete! Do I get a prize? Will I be contacted by a dozen of hot super models? Am I finally on my way to everlasting success? I'll keep you posted...

Just one more... for the road :-) :

BTW: these recent posts probably already made it clear we're back from our Leysin trip. Was it nice? It was, actually, despite two days  of rain. The rivers were deep because of that. And the mountains? Yes, they were high. A bit too high for me. Not physically (riding up a Swiss col or two is something I can manage), but mentally. Actually (my apologies to all those long climb fans), riding up a col is boring. 1.5 or 2 hours of slowly riding up a mountain, one turn after another... not such a big thrill if you ask me. No, then I much more enjoyed the mountainbiking: shorter and steeper climbs, technical and spectactular descents... Yep: I think I might start saving for a mountainbike. This one would be a nice start :-) :

Come out and play

Enjoyed the previous game? Or maybe not at all? Perhaps this one (also from the Hondamentalism series) will do it for you:

I will follow

If you are a Hondamentalist (driving or riding a Honda like myself is probably a good start), then you should be able to finish this game successfully...

River deep, mountain high

Holiday mode is definitely switched on again. Off to the Swiss Alps, Leysin to be precise, in a couple of hours.

Don't know if the rivers are deep there, but the mountains are surely high enough for some serious uphill kilometers. That's right: everything for this year's cycling goal. Back in a couple of weeks...

The future's so bright...

I do not normally post for niche audiences, but I would nevertheless like to dedicate this post to all the recent graduates who might be reading this blog (if any).

If you really want to make sure your online past (including pictures you'd rather not see get out in the open) does not haunt you when you start applying for a job (which is probably just about now): read this post by Eric Eggerton on Common Sense PR. Excellent advice if you ask me :-) ...

Enjoy the holiday in the meantime. It may be your last long one... unless you decide to get a job in education of course. :-)
