This month (January), back in 1976, saw the birth of the Dutch version of Sesame street. Let's all just admit it: we loved to watch Bert and Ernie. I know I did. Funny how cartoon characters and puppets just don't seem to age. Now that I think of it: how's that for a solution for all those wanting to stay young forever? But then again, some of them are already a caricature by themselves...
That's one of my most vivid memories of living in Holland. Sitting in the living room with my Mum and watching Sesame St.
Obviously I have to be careful about lumping all academics together in the same pot but certainly here there are some real cartoon-like characters

Don't worry: non-caricature-like academics usually don't mind that somebody says most academics are caricature-like.

It's nice that you still think of these two as just cartoon characters. Over here in Canada and the US, they've sort of become symbols of closet homosexuals. Some people just have too much time on their hands!

Derrick, that's news for me. But then again: now that you tell me, I'm not really surprised. I guess I am just childishly naive :-)...

Haha! Maybe you're not so childishly naive as people on the internet are childishly immature ;)
