One of the greatest aspects of lecturing, in my mind, is the fact that you yourself can learn a great many things from your students too. I am particularly grateful to José, one of our Spanish Erasmus students, for bringing Groucho Marx' epitaph to my attention. I have always thoroughly enjoyed the Marx Brothers' films (with some vivid memories of A Night at the Opera and A Day at the Races) but I had no idea Groucho Marx' epitaph was this good:
SORRY, MADAM, BUT I CANNOT STAND UP
PS1: more famous epitaphs can be found here. Also look for the one of the unknown, but funny dentist... Here and here is some more, should you already be thinking about your own epitaph or last words.
PS2: I found this information about Groucho Marx' grave, but the epitaph is not to be seen. Does anybody know the reason?
PS3: Question: am I being morbid today?
'I wish to be cremated. One tenth of my ashes shall be given to my agent, as written in our contract.' - GM
I like the great Spike Milligan's epitaph (written in Irish on his grave) - 'I told you I was ill'

Nice ones too. Hope I still have some time left to come up with an equally good one ;-)
