Do you know Ernest Longstaff? Well, you do now... Yes, I have finally given in to the increasing number of Second Life residents telling me I should give it a try. So, what the heck: here goes.
After all, it is better to be an informed sceptic than to remain uniformed (you are right about that, Kami). And since there is actually some worthwile stuff going on out there (like the 'Stand Up for the millennium development goals' campaign Andrea referred to recently), I could not really think of a reason not to go and have look.
I'll keep you posted on what it's like. For now, I'm still sceptical :-) ...
We should coordinate a time when we can have Ernest and Ceara meet up.

Now that's a thought. But first allow me some time to find my way around and discover my SL identity :-). Still: suggestions for meeting up welcome! (just don't forget the time difference - I'm on Brussels time, which is CET minus 1 if I'm not mistaken)
BTW: can Ernest be my evil twin, the Mr Hyde of my Dr Jeckyll? Or is it a (silent) SL rule you stay yourself, apart from name and looks? Yep: I really have no idea yet what I have gotten myself into this time... ;-)

Oh, I forgot: your question sort of brings back flashes of my early (!) childhood when (only occasionally you machos out here!) a girl friend would ask to play with her dolls and would propose if we would have the dolls meet for tea. Or for playing doctor. Or was that at a later age...? ;-D

Do you need a lot of time to play this game (excuse me: live this life)? Or is it something you can pick up after work?

I hope it is the second option because I do not have the time nor the 'goesting' (to say it with the most beautiful Dutch word ever) to spend hours a day in SL. Anyway: I get the impression it is a free country, well world, where you can spend as much or as little time as you like. Should you decide to pick it up after work as you say, let me know. I'll keep an eye out for you amongst the thousands and thousands of other residents :-) ...

Just so you guys know: I now go by the name Fred Paisley.
I don't have a job yet, but I'm looking for one. Know any good SL ad agencies, Serge?
:-)

Goesting?
Posted by: Philip Young | October 20, 2006 at 09:46 PM
@ Frederik: not yet. Perhaps we can start one. How about: "I do too"? ;-)
@ Philip: that's right, goesting. A Flemish Dutch word for desire, in all different meanings. Was elected as the most beautiful word in our language (at least in Flanders) only last year (or was it the year before).
