Could it be this simple: scientists have found a cure for cancer, but since there is no money to be made from it, they do not research it any further?
Well, that is basically what this guy is telling us, and what Piet apparently has picked up on. Let's hope they are right and that the pressure of free media can create a breakthrough. But what if these scientists are wrong? Or worse: what if this is just a big hoax?
Will the 'collective intelligence' of the web in its 2.0 state reveal the truth? Or will it be proved that the World Wide Web is just "a vessel of quasi-religious longing" like Nicholas Carr once stated? I am curious...
If only life were that eh?
I wonder what the Monkey will say when she sees this (her PhD is in Viral Oncology - Cancer Studies)? I know very little about Science; only what I've picked up by osmosis living with the Monkey while she was writing her thesis, but from what little I picked up even I can see the holes in that guy's story.
I just hope it doesn't cause too many problems when people who read it get false hope for a cure for their sick relatives or themselves and are disappointed when the Scientists have to point out the reality isn't just about the big pharma companies making money.

Mmmm. I am very sceptical myself about all this. Sounds like a bad X-files type of story. Reality isn't usually that simple indeed. Let me know what the Monkey has to say about it?
